Fuel Oil Theft in Prendergast, Lower Solva

Approximately 1200 litres of Kerosene has been syphoned out of an oil tank belonging to a resident in
Prendergast. Dyfed Powys Police are advising people in the Solva area to check their own tanks for any
disturbance and to take precautions that their tank is secure.
It is thought that the theft took place in the early hours of Friday 21 April. The police are conducting an investigation and crime scene officers have taken into account evidence that was left at the scene of the crime. Anyone with information please contact Haverfordwest Rural Neighbourhood Police Team on 101.

Duck Race Update

Solva Duck Race 2017 took place on a sunny Bank Holiday Easter Monday where a substantial crowd watched a thrilling finish. There was a clean sweep for female ducks on this occasion with Jemima coming in some 30 lengths ahead of her nearest competitor. Second placed Daisy was a further 20 lengths ahead of the following pair. A photo finish saw leading male duck Ryan take an erroneous detour to the reeds at the river bank at Cafe 35 with only a few feet to go, getting becalmed and allowing Rosie who took the faster flowing river wall route to make up fully 20 lengths and pip him at the post.
The event raised over £400 for Memorial Hall funds, slightly less than normal as the National Parks Authority decided to charge for the car park on this occasion, rather than allow a bucket donation in lieu and tickets sales were down from last year.
Many thanks to the river walkers, admin staff and the pubs and businesses that sold tickets for the event plus a special thank you to Cafe 35 for use of their upstairs room for race control.
