We would like to thank everyone who helped complete the Coast Path Challenge in July & August. The whole 186 miles has been completed and we’re busy adding up the total raised. It is well over the modest £500 initially aimed for – more like £2000! So, THANK YOU!
Our next fundraising event is on Saturday 8 September – we are hosting OPEN GARDEN at Dyffryn Fernant, near Fishguard SA65 9SP. This gem of a garden is a real treat and Christina has kindly opened for Shalom House. Entrance tickets are £7.00 and can be bought in advance from Shalom House or Shalom Shop or on the day at the entrance. The gardens will open from 12- 6 pm and afternoon tea and cakes will be available from Julie and her helpers.
In October – please keep Saturday 13 free for our Welsh Themed Afternoon Tea. Advance tickets will be available soon at £25.00. We have some fantastic treats in store. More next month.

Solva Heritage Society

The “THEN and NOW” evening on Thursday 16 August found a goodly number of local history enthusiasts
gathered in the Memorial Hall, to review the earlier photographs, shown by Grace Davies in the “Solva: 100 years Ago” talk, alongside the modern. Many similarities and differences were marvelled at, new facts revealed and tales told. Also viewed were the stories of two local families linking the ancestors of 1918 with residents of Solva today. Very sobering in parts but also uplifting.
Future events: 31 Aug, 1 & 2 Sept: “The story of YPRES” and 28,29,30 Sept: “The story of the SOMME”.
Both at St Aidans Church.
