Solva Heritage Society

Two of our members spent a profitable afternoon at the National Library of Wales workshop learning about the “Living Memories” project and the resources that are now available on line. Fran Barker contributed to the work
of transferring the information from the historic documents into their digital format. Well done, Fran.
Work is progressing on the Heritage Trail pamphlet which we hope to release for the Easter Holiday. From this small beginning it is hoped to build a larger archive on the archaeological sites, local buildings and businesses. All photographs and information / stories are welcomed. Research is a fascinating “hobby”. Your help is needed if we are to preserve our village heritage. Tel: 07739 158024 email: solvaheritage62@gmail.com

A big thank you to Mrs Bramley for her invaluable support and to Cyfeillion Ysgol Penryhn Dewi for their outstanding work during the nights of the production, which raised a considerable amount of money for the school.

Memorial Cross

The first phase of the Memorial Cross work to manage the woods has been completed, with the National Trust and Parks carrying out some thinning out of the trees. There’s still a bit more to do but already you get a clearer view of the sea from the cross and the clearing of dead wood has allowed a huge increase in the number of snowdrops this year. The National Trust will now carry out regular management of the woods and there will be a call for volunteers to help, so keep an eye on the Newsletter if you want to help.
