Solva Care

News: Over 40 members of our community turned out on the evening of Friday 10 April for the Solva Care Annual meeting and to celebrate our successful grant application to the National Community Lottery Fund. The grant, spread across 5 years, split as follows: £55,098, 54,381, 55,288, 56,2028, and 60,808, will enable us to continue employing our coordinator, and to recruit an activity assistant to help further develop our range of well-being activities to suit all interests and tastes. There will be scope for planning and launching lots of new activities and to continue with the tried and tested popular ones already running on a regular basis. Some great ideas were put forward by those who came to the meeting including: themed family days, a gardeners club, foodie projects, home adaptations, life stories, indoor bowls, book club, inter-generational projects, and
walking groups. Remember that anyone can attend the meetings where projects will be discussed.
Just call the appropriate Chair person beforehand. Forthcoming meetings: Finance 22 May (Chair Jonathan Higgins 720213). Operational 4 June (Chair Fran Barker 721164). Research 3 June (Chair Sue Denman 07817 410782) Board of Trustees 11 June (Chair Mollie Roach 721580). All welcome!
Appointment Trustees Solva Care – Advert
Would you like to make a difference to people’s lives ?
Solva Care (Registered Charity No 11772878) wishes to appoint new members to the Board of Trustees. The Trustees Board furthers the work of Solva Care in the Solva and Whitchurch area to counteract isolation and help with practical problems. This helps in community cohesion and is in line with the goals of the Social Services and Wellbeing Wales Act of 2015. The Trustees work with the Co-ordinator, Development Officer, the group of volunteers and all relevant agencies. The Board of Trustees manages the strategy, development and on-going work of the charity. Trustees are expected to attend meetings (about once a month) and carry out work to further the aims of the charity. Ideally Trustees should live in the locality and have an interest in health and well-being. We welcome applications from all age groups and will arrange meeting times to suit you
if you are currently in employment or have other commitments. Trustees, although not paid, gain a
great deal of satisfaction from helping to connect our community. To express interest and receive

This photograph is of the girls football team who won the Pembrokeshire Urdd competition to go to Aberystwyth to represent Pembrokeshire at the Urdd Eisteddfod Primary Sports Finals. The girls were thrilled to be presented with personalised kit to play in which was funded by the PTA.
Sadly they did not go through to the final at Aberystwyth but they did themselves, the school and the county proud.

This picture is of our team captains for this year’s Sports Day, due to be held on Friday, June 16. They are Team Dewi – Matilda & Evan and Team Sgomer – Jack & Libby. We are keeping our fingers crossed for good weather!
