The May meeting was held in the Hall on Thursday 9 May. The business included ideas from members on how best to use a very generous bequest from the estate of Mrs Marilyn Davies to the best advantage of all members of Solva WI. An early Summer outing to Penrallt Garden Centre was arranged for Wednesday 15 May and a visit to the Wildlife Centre, near Cardigan, was suggested for Wednesday 3 July. Voting took place for the resolution to be discussed at the NFWI AGM in June. The majority was in favour of “Don’t Fear the Smear”, with a unanimous vote in favour of “A call against the decline in local bus services”. Our link delegate will be informed. The speaker was the ever informative and amusing Sheena Crossley, who brought a bag full of interesting herb samples for members to look at, smell and take home for cuttings to grow. The vote of thanks was given by Jilly Missen. Mary Haughton will organise a competition for the September meeting for the Jean Platt Trophy. Book Club & the weekly walk will take place as usual.
The May Flower of the month competition was won by Margaret Robinson and will be held again in September & October. There were various reminders about forthcoming events and we will be entering the Scarecrow Competition in August.
The next meeting will be held on Thursday 13 June at 2pm in the Hall after which we will leave to visit St Davids Lifeboat Station.
