Prize Giving Evening – The evening was a chance to celebrate the many and varied achievements of students past and present, and we were thrilled to welcome former student Micky Beckett who gave an excellent talk on his
transition from amateur sailing to becoming a professional full time.

Sporting successes – In netball sisters Carys and Cerian Churchill have both excelled in their respective age groups, gaining representative honours for West Wales at Under 16 and Under 15 levels respectively. Carys captained the Under 16 A team in Merthyr in the Regional Finals and Cerian was one of only two Pembrokeshire players selected to represent West Wales in the regional finals in Bangor. Both girls are members of the successful School and Saints netball squads who are coached at club by Kay Reynolds and Alaric Churchill and in school by Rachael Thomas and Sarah.

In rugby a special rugby mention for Sol Almond in Year 10. This season he has been YDS’s only representative in the Pembrokeshire Squads’ XV enjoying one of its most successful season s ever in the Dewar Shield Competition. Sol has been playing second row in the pack, a position which really suits his ambitious style.
