Stephen Crabb MP addresses Newgale issue

Solva Business Group representatives met with Stephen Crabb on Saturday 7th March to discuss the A487 at Newgale. The group presented him with a document outlining SBG thoughts on the subject and the likely impact on Solva were a suitable solution not put in place.

This is a summary of the main points addressed:

  • PCC should be as keen as everyone else to try and maintain access from the south of the county via the A487 Newgale road.
  • Stephen Crabb will contact the chief executive of PCC to arrange a personal meeting to discuss the issue, with the aim of providing the public with a proper consultation framework.
  • He proposes that all of the relevant agencies (PCNPA; Natural Resources Wales; Pembrokeshire Tourism etc) be brought together to discuss this issue fully, with the intent of providing full and proper solutions to the problem.
  • He feels, as SBG do, that PCC should have already identified and understood the value of the road to the peninsula and will clarify this with them.
  • He is of the opinion that PCC should be driving this issue forward, providing properly costed solutions and proposals for funding.
  • He considers this a national matter and intends liaising with Paul Davies (AM) who could then present this to the Senedd in Cardiff.

Mr Crabb assured SBG that he would share any information regarding future developments that he became aware of. For further information please visit http://www.stephencrabb.com

Have Your Say!

When St Davids Schools for the Future met with Kate Evan-Hughes, Director for Children and Schools, at County Hall it became clear within minutes the proposal that emerged from the extraordinary Council meeting back in January (with our protest going on outside), appeared to save YDS from closure by keeping it open as an 11-16 school but, removing the 6th form. That proposal would leave YDS too small to survive!
The public consultation on the Council’s proposals began on March 23rd and ends on May 5th (later than previously announced). The next meeting will be held at St Davids City Hall on Wednesday 15th April 6.30 – 8.00pm.
Phone 01437 764551 to book a place.
St Davids Schools for the Future will hold the next vital community meeting at St Davids Rugby Club on Thursday 9th April 6.30 – 8.00pm.
It really is worth attending. Our voice is already being heard. This is your chance to have your say.

“Parking Funds Deal Likely to be Changed”

By Western Telegraph, Wednesday 11th March.

At an extraordinary PCNPA meeting, Chief Excutive Tegryn Jones said: “One of the issues we have is we’ve been trying to get a breakdown of the costs; we understand we’re paying for things like the clerk’s costs”. Cllr Peter Morgan felt that it was time PCNPA went “back to basics” and installed ticket machines. “We’re here to make money”, he added. Cllr Bob Kilmister said he felt the current 50-50 split was too high. A full response to these statements can be found in the following special report…

Now with monies from SADS, the Hall and the SCC, a modern modular system which is versatile, stackable and multi purpose is available. A big thank you to all SADS supporters for their generosity over the years.
