Western Power

Western Power Distribution is in the process of putting in an additional cable in the upper village. This is simply in order to reinforce the electricity supply whereby there will be fewer interruptions should there be a power outage. Work will be carried out across Whitchurch Road and mainly through the fields with disruption kept to a minimum.

Newsletter Donations – Please Help

Solva Community Council has raised certain funds to support the Newsletter through the diligent work of the Editor and Action Group. Printing costs have also been reduced, but we need to raise more funds, both now and in the future, to keep this much loved publication going. As readers know, the Solva Newsletter relies on the help and support of the local community and is delivered entirely by volunteers. It has been published for over eight years and is a unique and innovative approach to community engagement, not only on the St Davids peninsula, but countrywide and internationally.
We now want to look ahead with confidence so we can continue to provide a creative newsletter that our community want and expects.
An annual donation of £10, given by many households, would help to secure that future.
If you wish to donate, you can do this by: Cheque, Cash, BACS payment or Standing Order
BACS and Standing Order details from: Bruce Payne, SCC Clerk brucepayne241@gmail.com
Cheques payable to: Solva Community Council
Send to: Solva Community Council, Simpson Hill Farm, Old Nolton Road, Simpson Cross,
Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire, SA62 6ET
For those who have already donated we wish to say a BIG thank you.

YSGOL SOLFACH – Articles taken from the school newsletter that the pupils in Years 5 & 6
write for parents…
At the end of April two Welsh rugby star players, Shane Williams and Ian Gough called into Ysgol Solfach while travelling on their bikes to raise money for Princes Gate Trust.
When they were about to leave Class 1, 2 and some of class 3 sang the Welsh Haka which they really enjoyed!
On the 12th May, Class 3 went sailing at Solva Harbour. Their teacher was Mr. Beckett. Thank-you to Mr Beckett and his helpers: Mrs Beckett, Mrs Prickett and Mrs Hughes for an enjoyable opportunity. Jack thought “It was an amazing experience!” Matilda commented “I’d love to do it again.”
On Wednesday, July 6th, Ysgol Solfach will be holding an Open Evening from 3:30-5:00 pm.
The children will display this term’s work and their school projects. We hope to see many familiar faces and many proud parents.
