Edge Festival 2016

The 2nd Edge Festival will take place in Solva over the weekend of 5,6,7 August.
A passionate celebration of the Arts, Music, Food, Sport, Literature and performance, there really is something for everyone.
The Edge owes its success in large part to the valued support of local people and businesses, and in 2015 was able to donate £4,000 of its proceeds to local charities and good causes. It is hoped to better that figure in 2016. Listed in the Telegraph’s Top 10
things to do in Pembrokeshire in 2016, we hope to have you join us at the Edge!

Upper Solva Play Park

Youngsters will soon be able to enjoy the fantastic new Upper Solva Play Park, adjacent to the Football Club, when it formally reopens in August. The works, which started on 19 July, are now close to completion. Once the finishing touches are complete and the turf
has settled a ceremony to celebrate the reopening of the new play park will
be held.
The delivery of the new Play Park has been a collaboration between Solva Community Council, the Solva Playing Field Committee and Pembrokeshire County Council. The new play park has safety surfacing and features a range of equipment designed for different age groups. Items include a play tower, basket swing, buddy board, double and single zig-zag twisters.
In July 2015 Solva Community Council initiated the project to improve the existing play area, where the equipment was old and in need of replacement. Choosing from three
different designs, the community council selected the Wicksteed Leisure Ltd solution for this exciting new design that will completely transform the play experience.

Parc y Capel Boundary wall

At last Parc y Capel has a southern boundary thanks to Desi Page and his JCB. They made short work of getting a clean face on the earth bank and clearing a foundation for the stone facing and lifting the larger stones into place. We are indebted to Mrs. Val Vaughan and family for donating the stones and to Dan for transporting them on
site. We also had a bucketful from Trecenny.
It is remarkable what a little co-operation and willingness can achieve. Many thanks to all. Gareth Evans, Parc y Capel Chairman

The committee of Parc y Capel would like to extend special thanks to their Chairman
Gareth Evans for his work on the wall on the southern boundary. The wall is a work of art and enhances the area and will increase people’s enjoyment when visiting Parc y
Capel. Thanks also to Desi Page and the Vaughan family.
