Edge Festival Bursary

The first recipient of the Edge Festival’s Bursary is Cameron Davies, who applied for help with his chosen career in the merchant navy. He will use the money to fund some of the courses he has to undertake at Pembrokeshire College, in order to gain a place in the training academy of a major shipping company. His aim is to gain a skipper’s ticket, which would open up huge opportunities for him. We were pleased to award Cameron a bursary as he
has been a huge help in running the annual festival and we think his career ambitions should be supported. He will be a credit to Solva.
Edge Festival Christmas Dance

Put on your tinsel, throw off your cares and join us. Tickets are already selling well so please book as soon as possible from Gill 07971122963 or Josh at the Harbour Inn.

Solva WI

Our Annual Meeting on 9 November was preceded by a soup lunch which was much enjoyed by a large turn-out of members. Following a busy but enjoyable and successful Centenary Year, the Annual Reports from Secretary Kathy Davies and President Jane Pascoe were very positive, with optimism for the future. This carried through to the willingness of members to join the committee to replace those who have sadly stood down, having done their share of sterling work: namely Kathy Davies, Delith Williams and Jilly Missen.
Visitors are welcome to attend our meetings up to 3 times before deciding to join.
Our next meeting includes Christmas Tea on Thursday 7 December. We will be decorating a tree for the annual Christmas Tree Festival on Friday 1 December and on Sunday 10 December we will host the Dewisland Carol Service in St Aidans Church at 2.30 pm, which will complete our year of celebrations. Happy Christmas to all.
